Detailed delivery capability, compliance approach and examples of works in this sector.
Marshdale Construction Ltd has developed a strong reputation for delivering specialist construction and refurbishment projects in the aviation sector, operating seamlessly within some of the most complex and highly regulated environments. Our portfolio spans airside and landside works, with extensive experience working across terminal buildings, aprons, taxiways, baggage halls, control areas, and air traffic facilities.
We are proud of the work we have delivered at Birmingham Airport, where we have delivered multiple high-profile schemes, and we continue to expand our aviation capability through projects and wider support packages across UK airports, both directly and indirectly. This proven track record underscores our ability to operate safely, securely and with minimal disruption in live airport environments.
Our staff are fully security cleared to work airside unsupervised and are trained and authorised to operate vehicles within restricted zones. This capability enhances logistical efficiency and ensures projects progress without disruption to daily operations. Our in-house expertise extends across airfield systems including Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), complex M&E systems, communications infrastructure, and other mission-critical aviation services.
Safety and security underpin every aspect of our aviation work. Marshdale aligns with anti-terrorism requirements, CAA regulations, and stringent airport security protocols, planning and delivering projects with a clear focus on protecting both passengers and critical infrastructure.
Flagship Projects
- TE18 Infrastructure Project – Birmingham International Airport: Marshdale successfully delivered the Design & Build of a new HV/LV electrical substation located airside, adjacent to an operational aircraft stand and beneath the International short pier vehicle passthrough. This £2.36m, 56-week scheme comprised a new HV Switch Room, transformer pens, Generator Room and LV Switchgear Room, with associated cabling and fuel infrastructure. Working in a highly constrained environment surrounded by live baggage handling systems and active aircraft operations, we maintained full operation of the HV ring throughout, showcasing meticulous planning, stakeholder collaboration and safety-critical delivery.
- South Terminal Arrivals Toilets – Birmingham Airport: This refurbishment project demonstrates our capability to work sensitively within passenger-facing environments. The scheme required complex re-routing of airside access to a new landside entry point to ensure security compliance, whilst modernising and upgrading facilities within a fully operational terminal.
- Wider Aviation Support: Marshdale has undertaken additional works across aprons, taxiways and terminal facilities at Birmingham and Coventry airports, alongside indirect packages supporting other UK airports. This includes enabling works, infrastructure upgrades, and compliance-led refurbishments that demand precise coordination and adherence to strict aviation safety requirements.
From airside infrastructure to landside terminal refurbishments, Marshdale combines technical expertise with an in-depth understanding of airport operations. Our reputation in aviation is built on security, safety and collaboration, ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standards without compromising critical airport operations.
